Editor’s Note—March 2020

If you like longer, sunnier days, then you should be happy with the month of March. The vernal equinox takes place on March 19, 2020, which means the days will lengthen; and for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, we’ll tilt toward the sun and start to warm up. Of course, those in the pressure washing industry look forward to warm and sunny days because it means they can ramp up their work. 

“Selling to the Agriculture Industry” on page 6 kicks off the March issue. It details how farm machines and structures need cleaning. Opportunities abound for the pressure washing industry to be involved with the agriculture industry. Diane Calabrese says, “To sell to the agriculture industry, understand the cleaning needs of farmers. Then, offer to meet them.”

On page 16, Beth Borrego has written the article “Developing Your Brand Image.” Her focus in the chapter as she states it is “shaping the customer’s perception of what your brand represents.” She covers the importance of the creation of quality literature, a professional appearance, and appropriate customer interaction. On page 20 of the article, she has included an image improvement checklist for your company to use.

Other important articles in the issue cover the following topics: cost centers versus profit centers, protection against ransomware, troubleshooting burner issues, when to offer rental equipment, and the importance of cash flow.

So, go outside, get busy, and make the most of those longer, sunnier days.

Correction: In February’s CETA Edge column, a correction needs to be noted on page 32 in the third to last paragraph. The fourth sentence, in talking about the criteria for CPC 100, states, “NRTL testing must verify a machine meets all criteria.” The NRTL testing requirement has been removed.
