Editor’s Note—March 2018

by Michael Hamline, Editor / Published March 2018

The Spring Equinox starts on Tuesday, March 20. Without doubt, parts of the country will still experience wild temperature swings and see winter precipitation that might delay a full-scale return to pressure washing; but nevertheless, spring is just around the corner!

Therefore, this issue of Cleaner Times (CT) has been marked as the Spring Special Issue. As such, you will notice a green border on the top and outside edge of this section, running from pages 16–37 that covers the following topics: wood features and caring for them, commercial general liability insurance and commercial umbrella liability insurance, graffiti removal, and soft washing. By including these topics, it is not meant to suggest that these issues can only be thought about in the spring nor is this by any stretch of the imagination an exhaustive list. In the case of insurance, it is vital for your business to obtain the right coverage and the adequate amounts of coverage to protect your business and your livelihood. Woodwork, graffiti removal, and soft washing are simply areas for you to consider expanding into; if you are already involved in one or more of these areas, there is an abundance of information in these articles that can assist you in completing the work with excellence.

There is also an important announcement from the Cleaning Equipment Trade Association (CETA) and the Power Washers of North America (PWNA) about PowerClean 2018. This conference will be a full-scale co-location between the two organizations that will be held in Orlando, FL, on October 19–21. Chad Rasmussen, CETA’s president, comments about the value of this decision when he says, “I believe that the co-located show will give members of both associations access to a greater depth of training, better networking opportunities, and opportunities to increase business.” Mark your calendars to attend this important convention. Stay up-to-date on upcoming information in the pages of Cleaner Times, www.ceta.org, and www.pwna.org.

We value our readers and would love to hear suggestions from you this year on topics we should cover and personal interest stories of those in the industry.
